Orangecycle of Tampa Bay, Inc., a non-profit organization, is Tampa's new community bicycle program. It was created by the Tampa Downtown Partnership's Transportation Management Organization (TMO), in association with The City of Tampa and many private and public agencies. The bright orange bicycles are made available throughout the downtown and surrounding areas for temporary use on the honor system and at the rider's own risk. Volunteers paint, distribute, maintain and monitor the bicycles.
The Orangecycle program encourages tourists, visitors, and downtowners to use bikes (instead of cars) to get around Downtown, Ybor City and the University of Tampa/West Bank areas. Riders are simply asked to follow the "rules of the road" (at the end of this page) when borrowing an Orangecycle. It is envisioned that the Orangecycle program will become a broader community effort with various neighborhoods and business districts participating in the program.
Supporters of the program include: The Tampa Downtown Partnership/TMO, City of Tampa, YMCA, HARTline, Hillsborough Planning Commission, Ybor City Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of Corrections. Generous donations of resources and time come from DuPont, GT-85 International, Holland & Knight, Pioneer Cleaners, Stadium Lincoln-Mercury, Speedline Athletic Wear, Dud Thames Bicycle Shop, Blades and Bikes, numerous community groups and private citizens.

* Florida state law requires bicycle riders age 16 and under to wear a bicycle helmet.
